The Seattle Small Business SurveySEATTLE, WA - Anyone considering starting a business would be well advised to review the lessons of dozens of entrepreneurs in the Seattle Small Business Survey, conducted by Dan Kennedy. The survey polled 30 entrepreneurs. Participants had been in business an average of 11 years. Yearly revenues ranged from $100,000 to $5 million. 10 were home-based businesses and nearly half sold services while the rest promoted products. Also surveyed were six business bankers, one private investor and Karl Vesper, an expert in small business at the University of Washington's main campus in Seattle. The most important things that came out of the survey were eight ideas that continually surfaced when participants were asked the question: If you had in front of you a roomful of would-be entrepreneurs, what advice would you give them to help assure their success?
