Leadership Growth

Tom Curran
Tom is an inspiring teacher and popular conference speaker who specializes in the ongoing formation and support of business leaders and entrepreneurs all across North America. Tom offers services through Formation-by-Phone sessions. He gives assistance and support to leaders who seek career development, ongoing personal formation, or who need help facing current career challenges. In the career development sessions Tom helps participants develop a vision, set priorities, and strategize for the future. For those seeking personal formation, Tom has developed detailed outlines with questions that help participants reflect deeply on foundational issues of leadership and personal growth. And for those who are facing current challenges, Tom helps participants gain clarity and take appropriate action on issues such as time management, organization, relationships, or other pressing situations. Formation-by-Phone sessions are offered to groups or individuals, and are an affordable, convenient and time-effective way to receive ongoing support as a business leader. Tom has a graduate degree from the Gregorian University in Rome and is writing a dissertation for a Ph.D. in theology at Catholic University.

David Dunning, Ph.D.
David Dunning is a consulting psychologist in private practice since 1980 based in Seattle, Washington. He is a trusted advisor to senior management in a variety of industries. Clients include Bank of America, Boeing, Microsoft, WRQ, NBBJ Design, Nordstrom, PRECOR, ICOS, U.S. Navy, University of Washington School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital Regional Medical Center. His specific services include organizational assessment and issue identification, strategic planning, team building, conflict resolution, executive coaching, leadership development, executive selection, succession planning and assessment. The centerpoint of David’s practice is results-based leadership. He designs and conducts customized leadership development programs for clients. These programs increase leadership competence and build coaching capacity throughout the organization. By using real projects and resolving issues in real time, these programs are unique in producing a positive ROI for the company. He is an acknowledged expert about effective leadership. He has conducted extensive research and is a contributing author of The Continuing American Revolution: A Psychological Perspective (2004). He has also contributed to the Puget Sound Business Journal as a guest columnist.

Ruth Johnston, Ph.D.
Ruth offers a variety of consulting services and training workshops in leadership development, process improvement, strategic planning, transition management and organization development. She currently works at the University of Washington where she serves as Associate Treasurer for Quality and Communications. From 1989 - 1994 she served as Manager of UW Training and Development where she was responsible for planning and delivering classes, customized training, and organizational development services to the 17,000 UW employees. From 1983 - 1989 she was the Manager of UW Conference Management, an office that planned and delivered national and international educational conferences ranging in size from 30 - 3,000 participants. Ruth also serves as affiliate assistant professor in Leadership and Policy Studies, UW College of Education and as adjunct faculty for the Hotel and Restaurant Administration Program at Washington State University's Seattle campus. She has a B.A. in Counseling Psychology, an M.A. in Human Relations, and a Ph.D. in organization development and higher education. Ruth is married and has two children and two step-children.

Lynda Silsbee
Lynda is an entrepreneur who started the Performance Dimensions Group consulting firm in 1999. PDG merged with Waldron & Company in 2006 to complement their other practice areas - Executive Search and Outplacement services and now Organizational Effectiveness Consulting. She has more than 22 years of working in fast-paced, high growth companies such as Jones Soda Co., Qpass, Nordstrom, Genie Industries, and Vulcan Northwest. Lynda specializes in creating great leadership in organizations, developing high-performing teams and increasing organizational capacity to deliver results. Her specialties include work in strategic planning and integration, human performance improvement, leadership and team development, performance management systems, and process improvement. Lynda is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources and Certified Performance Technologist. She is a graduate of the University of Washington with a Bachelors Degree in Business and a long-time Seattle resident.

Developing Individuals and Organizations 

Deborah Seaman
Deborah, through her Seaman Associates, brings over 20 years of experience to facilitating positive change in organizations. She helps groups and individuals solve problems, plan, manage change, build teams, and improve communication. Her training workshops are tailored to specific needs and audiences, and her consulting services are customized, results-based, and include milestones and measures. Prior to starting her own business, Deborah was Director of Organizational Development and Training at the University of Washington's Harborview Medical Center and Highline Community Hospital, and Manager of Human Resources Development at Stanford University Hospital. With a Master of Public Health Degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, as well as Community College and K-8 Teaching Credentials, Deborah has taught management courses at college and post-graduate levels. Her writings have been published nationally. She is an active community volunteer and serves on the Boards of Directors of Emerald City Rotary, Rotary First Harvest, and the Olympic Park Institute. She is a Past-President-of Emerald City Rotary in Seattle.

Wendy Batten, CPCC
Whether working with families or organizational teams, Wendy Batten helps groups of people to find clarity, fulfillment, and success—together. Wendy is a certified professional coach and graduate of the Coaches Training Institute, plus she is a student of CTI's Organization Relationship and Systems Coaching program. She has gained praise as an insightful ally and a champion for all that people can make of their professional and personal lives. Nowadays, Wendy is a pioneer, helping to bring coaching to families and organizations across Germany. Though she lives and works there, she is available for coaching in person and/or by phone worldwide.

Lynda McDaniel
Lynda inspires participants in her business-writing seminars to overcome their fear of writing (the #1 reason for poor results) with stories and examples gleaned from her 25-year career as a journalist and business writer. She offers one-on-one coaching to managers and executives who want to develop a clear, creative style to help advance their careers. Her customized half-day and one-hour seminars are designed for the entire workforce and include topics such as: Jumpstart Your Writing—and Your Results; Eight Tips for Effective E-mail; Writing That Sells; and Expertise Ink (turn expertise into magazine and newspaper articles). Lynda has written for national corporations, magazines and newspapers such as DuPont, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Country Living, Associations Now, Seattle Post-Intelligencer and the Washington Post (online). Her coaching and seminar clients include First Choice Health, Seattle Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Administration (WNET) and University of Puget Sound.
